Easy/Smart/Faster Business Operations

Dear Collaborators-           Also posted on our Group.ProsperSystems.biz - Join!

Being basically lazy, I've learned the easy/smart/fast ways of doing many things, especially in technology.  You might like some of these:
  • For a private street address, obtain the least-expensive local PO Box and use the Post Office's address, e.g., 280 East 1st Avenue, Suite poboxNearestBigCity ST zipcode ($11/quarter at USPS including forwarding  beats the UPS store: $60-$75/quarter plus $30 & postage for forwarding).
  • For a quick, free yet classy business webpage, create a LinkedIn Company page, buy a company domain name (Best supported from GoDaddy.com), then point it to the new Company Page.  You can also buy a personal domain name and point it to your personal LinkedIn page, then you are done for the year.
  • If you want to get fancier, GoDaddy.com has 1- to unlimited-page website builders for $1-$7 per month, paid annually, including a domain name at no charge (best deal in the country now  I'm experimenting with the new, 10-page $4/month version now that automatically makes a customizable mobile version (the wave of the future)
  • When you buy a domain name, buy as much of the domain suite as you can  .com, .biz, .org, .info, .net, .me, us, .ws  saves money (usually ~$5 vs $10) ... and ... discourages some foreigner from buying one of them then trying to sell it back to you for $600.
  • It is much smarter to have your own domain with associated email address, such email@KentonHJohnson.com, re-directed to your current email address (which is currently on gMail).  You can change the email server without notice, and not have to go through the lengthy notification and conversion processes.
  • That also goes for phone number(s).  800/877/866/855 phone numbers can be re-directed quickly, but sometimes at a fee, so I use Google Voice which can be accessed from anywhere in the world, and rings my home, mobile and Skype numbers, as well as transcribes to text mail.  The actual numbers are kept private and can change whenever I want.  (Ringing my Skype is sometimes more obvious than my phone, especially if I've left it on silent or elsewhere.)  Vanity numbers such as my 302KentonJ and 888-4KENTON might also be available.
  • Sync all your files to the "Cloud" so you can access them from anywhere on any smart device  can even send to your printer or others' that you add (recommend DropBox.com).  You can share folders with others for instant Collaboration (restrict invitations from your invitees unless they are very close)
  • HootSuite.com simultaneously posts to Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and other social media accounts (but not Google+ personal account only the business account at this point), saving posting each yourself (or hire someone to).  It can also schedule them for later, and you can submit a spreadsheet with date, time, message and accounts for several future posts.  Some websites will allow you to post their article or page directly through HootSuite.
  • Sometimes, a smart device like a tablet or smart phone, has more user functionality, especially for social media posting (such as to HootSuite)
  • For professionals, and small businessmen, who don't have a lawyer on retainer for their personal or small business questions  traffic, contracts, wills, accounting, collections, rentals, etc  or be represented in legal actions  disputes, infractions, audits, etc.  See SeekWiseCounsel.biz for excellent service in US and Canada..
  • Consulting as a professional or in addition to your "day" profession or business can be much more lucrative per hour if you help start-ups, expansions and mature companies for equity and stipend as consultant, adviser, board member or officer.  It takes longer to see the money, but can make you wealthy, allow you to retire early then become a seed capitalist for more rewards:  personal, professional and financial.  See out latest Brief.ProsperSystems.biz for ideas and opportunities.  Current projects will be worth $80K to $8M each to four Referrers and Collaborators (participants) ... so far.  Happy to answer your questions.
Please post your suggestions.  We'll update this list on this Blog with the direct sub-domain, BetterBusOps.pskhj.com

IT Capabilities for the 2nd Decade of the 21st Century

Also posted at Group.ProsperSystems.biz

Are your Information Technology (IT) capabilities stuck in the 20th Century or have they advanced to the 2nd Decade of the 21st Century?
·   Most of your clients are using Apple, Android or Windows phones and tablets – are your websites looking and functioning well on them?
·   Most of your people are using mobile phones and tablets:
o  Are these being integrated at your company IT?
o  Have secure access to sales, financial, history (e.g., stocks, personnel, medical, mechanical and maintenance), and requirements (regulatory – should this waste drum be here)?
o  Have offline capability to queue updates when can get online?
o  Can you voice update, write update or text to your database?
o  Are you using highly, portable, wonderfully capable 7" tablets?
o  Are your office and mobile application documents – word, text, spreadsheet, PPT – fully compatible?
o  Can you access the latest versions of company documents from anywhere in the world?
·   Can you collaborate on documents from anywhere in the world?
·   Have you migrated your websites to the newer multi-media, multi-platform HTML5 Standard yet?
·   Do you have your company or marketing database(s) integrated in your website so that your people or customers can update their info, progress, requirements online?  Eliminates transfer errors and delays.
·   Do your websites update from in-house databases – personnel, financial reports (public companies especially), board reports, press releases, social media updates, or is 20th-century manual/IT entry required?
·   Do you have your own Intranets/Internal Portals – for company info, training and updates and sharing information?  Going to outside services, such as LinkedIn, Google+ or Facebook opens up distraction and loses control.
·   Do your static graphics look great?
·   Are your graphics slow to download?
·   Are you using walk-on graphics, background graphics or video?
·   Do your graphics update dynamically from the latest data (charts, graphs – such as prices, products, services, personnel photos) by in-house users versus IT?
·   Are you at the top of search engines for your product or service keywords?
·   Do you have a high rate of contact information capture on your site(s)?  Auto-captured emails, phones, addresses are highly valuable, but only if you use them for client relations and gentle marketing.
·   Do you email your customers/clients regularly with highly-usable information and critical company updates?
·   Is your email marketing "one size fits all," or is it customized by needs, previous purchases/activity, demographics and time they entered the system?  Ads on Google and social media sites are tailored to your profiles and past activity, and the latest email systems add time-in to sequence marketing.
·   Do you alienate your prospects/customers/clients with regular promotions or disguised promos, or are you giving them information that makes them want to open your emails, texts and mail?  90% of communications with them should be highly-useable information – short, sweet, golden nuggets that can be immediately utilized to improve their lives or business.
·   Technical - Could your IT systems be hacked, shutdown, compromised or disrupted easily?
·   Are your in-house and on-line applications safe from non-authorized users or use?
·   Do you have any systems that have problems or are really slow?
·   Satisfied with your web host?
·   Have you purchased your full suite of domain extensions and similar domain names?  Squatters are grabbing popular and valuable domain name extensions, similar names, such as .info, .tv, .us and .ws extensions, as well as negative name versions (FordReallySucks.com), hoping to sell them to back to you when they start popping up on Internet searches.
·   Are you paying for software by the computer or licensing by number of users?
·   Do you have to update your computers every time there's a software update?
·   Is you day-to-day and critical data protected by fire-proof, high-security offline storage … daily?  Hourly?  Every update?
·   Can your people access their day-to-day documents online via secured connections?
·   Can you collaborate on documents from anywhere in the world via secured connections?
These capabilities and opportunities can be:
·   Created in-house by your IT staff, but often they are overwhelmed keeping critical systems functioning and improved, so …
·   Talented contractors can do the job, but often they have a limited scope, so
·   Wide-spectrum, highly-experienced service organizations that use local project managers and well-educated and deeply-experienced local and off-shore designers and developers.
However you implement the upgrades, do so now, for those who do not keep their systems up to date will find it tougher and tougher to compete.

NEW State-of-the-Art Marketing Paradigms

Dear Entrepreneur / Executive-

You'll need to break/change/add a few paradigms to fully move into the 21st Century:
  • Shopping:  More and more people are shopping on the "Web"/Internet - for convenience, necessity, selection or price.  In fact, retailers without a Web presence will be struggling soon.
  • Marketing:  the latest, smartest and least expensive marketing is generally based on GOgitMMM - (make a) Great Offer - Get (prospect) Information Today (adding to a database) - Market, Market, Market - continuous marketing via one or more channels:  (1) Electronic (email, text mail, video, webinar, recorded message, auto-dialer, fax broadcast, private website) or (2) Conventional (direct mail, printed newsletter, seminar).  This can increase online sales 10-20 fold!
  • Work:  Once set up - FREE or otherwise - Electronic Marketing, especially web-based, can work nearly on its own, bringing in sales 24/7 with no daily work on your part.  It's like owning a company with a great management team - you just keep an eye on the team, encouraging them once in a while and account for the income.
  • Affiliate Marketing:  Compensating for referrals has been part of business forever.  But on the Web, it is (1) straight-forward to set up an "affiliate/referral program link" to the seller's website with the affiliate's ID number, (2) easy to use on email, websites, newsletters and other marketing, and (3) can be verrrry lucrative, IF the selling website uses GOgitMMM.  (If it doesn't, customer information probably won't be captured as they slip away, and if they do come back if will probably be directly, leaving out the affiliate.)
  • Social Media Revolution:  Social Media Networking platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Plaxo, Ryze and others are growing very rapidly, showing the power and popularity of communicating and collaborating quickly and easily among groups of friends and associates without the need of often misused email broadcasts.  The group communications are with very short messages, which is good because most people don't have or take the time to read beyond a few sentences in emails. Instant messaging between individuals and form-email messages to individuals and opt-in groups are available for more detailed conversations.
  • Integration:  Web users want posting to multiple social media networks, cross-communication, database syncing, databases in "the cloud" (online), instant local/world information, learning, entertainment, two-way input via cell phone, etc.  A single-page Web Portal can do much of that in one fell swoop!
I'd like to share something with you that will help you understand the power of 21st-Century Marketing Paradigms as well as derive Free, Fun Income for you, your circle of friends, family and associates, plus help some worth-while causes if they choose (and you help them see the light).

There you have it - one very creative and power implementation of 21st-Century Paradigms.  Comments appreciated.
